Building Friendships...Building Families...Building Faith.
Dear Friend,

We know that it isn't always easy visiting a new church for the first time.  You may ask yourself,  Are the people nice?  Will I stand out?  Will it be easy to leave if I don´t enjoy it?  Will they ask me for money?  Will my kids enjoy it?  How should I dress?  Am I welcome if I don´t believe?"

Please keep reading to learn some answers.  We would like to make the experience of visiting Prairie Hill as enjoyable as we can!

Attire
Come dressed in what you feel is comfortable.  You will find us dressed in anything from jeans to office casual to suits.

When You Walk in the Doors
First of all, when you arrive, there are two sets of doors as you come from the parking lot. The doors to the left take you directly into the reception area outside of the Sanctuary.  There is a  "
Welcome Center," to the right where attendants would be happy to share information about Prairie Hill, show you around if you would like, or tell you about nursery and child care options you may choose to take advantage of.  Or you may choose to just continue into the sanctuary.

Children

Children of all ages are welcome to stay with their parents during the worship service, but we also offer childcare and children's programs.  We have an infant room and a toddler room for children ages 0 to 3 years old.  Before the service begins or anytime afterward, you may leave your children with our caring and qualified attendants and pick them up after the Worship Service. You may also leave your children with us during the Treasure Seekers and Adult Bible Fellowship hour that starts at 9:15.  A welcome booth attendant can help you find these rooms.

Children age four and up join their families in the 10:30 Worship Service for the first part of the service which features music and worship.  Just prior to the message portion of the service, children age four through 2rd grade are dismissed to go to Children's Church and 3rd, 4th and 5th graders are dismissed for 345's.  Teachers meet children in the reception area and escort them to the classroom, but you are also welcome to accompany your children if they are shy or anxious about leaving.  Children can be picked up by parents/guardians upstairs in Room 207 following the service.

Children also have their own program called "Treasure Seekers" during the 9:15 hour while elective topics are offered to adults.

 The Worship Service

As you enter the Sanctuary, you will be given a copy of "The Bulletin" with an order for the service, the week's calendar, upcoming events, and announcements.  An online version of our last week's bulletin can be found here.

The worship service usually begins with music.  The words to the music are conveniently displayed on large-screen monitors at the front of the room, but if you prefer, written copies are available from an usher.  Each Sunday someone will offer a prayer, and a musical selection will be played.  At some point "offering plates" will be passed down the rows.  Monetary offerings are for those who call Prairie Hill their church home. You are our guest.  Please do not feel obligated to participate.

A notice on the monitors will let you know when it is time for the children to go out for  Children's Church and 345's. Pastor Jerry then speaks, explaining a passage from the Bible and making application to our own lives.

Communion

Communion, or "The Lord's Supper," is a Christian celebration of Jesus' sacrificial death for us.  Jesus tells us in scripture to do this to remember what he did for us.  It serves as a visual and physical reminder that he died for our sins.  The bread that is passed and eaten represents Christ's body, which was nailed to the cross for our sins.  The small cups of grape juice represent Christ's blood which was shed to pay the punishment for our sin.

Communion is served the first Sunday of every month. You do not need to be a member of our church to take communion.  All who trust in Jesus as their savior are welcome to partake with us.  At Prairie Hill, the bread and cup of juice are passed to the people where they sit.  If you choose not to participate, simply pass these on down the row.  If you would like to know more, we would love to talk with you! You may fill out a response request by clicking here, call us at (952) 937-9593, or talk to Pastor Jerry or an Elder when you visit.

Pastor Jerry's Sermon
Though our pastor has his doctorate in Ministry, he prefers to simply be called "Pastor Jerry".  As he speaks he often notes the unique cultural context of the time and place that a passage of scripture was written, and the original meaning of the Greek and Hebrew words that have been translated into English to make up our Bibles. His messages are interesting and relevant to daily life.

Worship Team

Our worship team is led by Erik Sundman. The team combines traditional hymns with newer, upbeat worship music. You will hear drums, guitars, keyboards, and vocalists who lead us as we sing praise to God.

To Sum it Up

Our visitors tell us they felt welcomed and comfortable when they visited Prairie Hill. We hope you'll stop by this Sunday.  If you do, please say hi to Pastor Jerry after the service.  He and his wife, Rebecca, stand in the reception area following the service.

We all look forward to welcoming you to Prairie Hill!
